About Our Pastor….

Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Living Hope Baptist Church 11373 E. Alameda Avenue (Aurora, CO), Dr. Malcolm Newton and Dr. Hugh Harris of the Denver Institute of Urban Studies (DIUS) and Adult College, conferred upon Pastor Robin D. Holland the degree of Honorary Doctorate in the area of Humane Letters.  The degree was conferred for Dr. Holland’s life of ministry and active community and global service.  Dr. and Mrs. Holland founded Living Hope Baptist Church (LHBC) in 1992 in Aurora, Colorado.  He holds degrees in Education, Urban and Intercultural Studies, and Leadership and Management.  Dr. Holland’s doctorate degree was conferred upon him by the DIUS and Adult College.

Dr. Holland is retired from the U.S. Air Force with 25 years of service.  He also served as an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America before becoming the founder of LHBC.  Dr. Holland has served in the Aurora Community in the capacity of Police Chaplain and Chief of Chaplains for the Aurora Police Department from 1989 to 2001 and 2004.  He was a first responder in the Aurora theater tragedy and prayed over the city during the City-Wide Prayer Vigil held after the shootings.

Dr. Holland served as Co-Chairman of the Colorado Coalition of Faith that represented over 60 faith based and community support organizations throughout Colorado.  The Coalition was designed to respond to multiple needs in Colorado such as homelessness, education, employment, and empowerment.  In 2005 the Coalition in partnership with the State of Colorado, Red Cross, and Salvation Army responded to support over 10,000 Katrina survivors seeking shelter in Colorado.  Dr. Holland has served as a Chaplain for Young Life, and was a board member for Youth For Christ, and The American Red Cross Mile High Chapter.  He currently serves on the Denver Mayor’s Clergy Counsel for the Homeless and Senior Initiative.

He is married to Nita Faye and their 36 year marriage has blessed them with two lovely daughters, two grandchildren and an “adopted” son from Zimbabwe, Africa.

Pastor Holland’s teaching on relationships between men and women, along with biblical principles that govern personal finances are in great demand. He has taught these principles to church congregations, corporations, and on university campuses throughout the United States and around the world.

Dr. Holland has made over seven mission trips to Haiti for missionary relief efforts following the earthquake that struck Haiti in January 2010.  He continues to work with the effort to rebuild churches, schools and lives in Haiti.  He has made over nine mission trips to Grenada, building up five churches and their communities.  Dr. Holland’s mission work also includes trips to South Africa, Pretoria, and Zimbabwe.  He taught a course on ethics and self-esteem at the Kiev Christian University in Kiev, Ukraine during the 1999-2000 school years.  During his Ukraine assignment Dr. Holland also conducted debt-free living Seminars in the Netherlands.

Living Hope Baptist Church presently worships at Faith Presbyterian Church (11373 E. Alameda Avenue in Aurora, CO) every Sunday morning at 10:00am.
